Thursday 3 February 2011: The New NHS + Building Race Equality

Race for Health is hosting a unique event on Thursday 3 February to ensure that the transition to new healthcare commissioning tackles the crisis of health inequality among Britain’s minority ethnic communities.

The event brings together leading PCT commissioners of best practice in this area alongside those who will take responsibility in the new NHS. It will explore the challenges involved in the handover of commissioning. It will hear and address concerns among General Practitioners. The event will set out in practical detail the legal obligations in this field plus opportunities that good practice offers to transform health outcomes for patients.

A key outcome of the event will be publication of practical recommendations for practitioners and policy makers to further race equality in health in the new NHS.

Race for Health is tasked by the Department of Health to pioneer effective ways to tackle race inequality in health. We will host the free, one day event on Thursday 3 February (10am-3.50pm) 2011 at Goodenough College, London House, Mecklenburgh Square, City of London, WC1N 2AB.

You should attend if you manage equalities for a PCT, work with GP consortia or if you are involved in provision, commissioning or policy making around improving health outcomes for your population.
