Peer Review NHS Leeds
The theme of NHS Leeds’ peer review will be: ‘How can NHS Leeds embed Race Equality into its commissioning processes?’ The Peer Review team will be asked to explore this research question by comparing two of the PCT’s current commissioning models for Coronary Heart Disease and Mental Health services. The peer team will be asked whether adopting a flexible and intelligent approach to commissioning is the right approach for the PCT in order to embed Race Equality across the board.

Delivering Services for People with Sickle Cell or Thalassaemia
This Sickle Cell conference has been identified as a need by the Liverpool Sickle Cell Support Group through a number of consultations informing our Single Equality Scheme. They wanted an opportunity to raise awareness with health professionals and to consider the specific needs of this condition when examining the disease in the context of health and social care; when delivering or commissioning services. This is also the launch of Liverpool PCT's Single Equality Scheme.

Leading Action on Race Equality and Health Summit
On 19 October 2009 in London, Race for Health will host a summit for NHS leaders on tackling race equality and health. The afternoon summit will focus leadership and set out practical ways forward, which will be supported by a Race for Health Guide setting out what NHS organisations must do and how to do it. Participants will be invited to sign a pledge, which others will then be asked to sign in advance of publication.

Seminar: Patient Profiling (collecting ethnic monitoring data in General Practice)
The seminar shared evidence generated from an earlier action learning set regarding the most effective ways of collecting ethnic monitoring date in primary care. Ideas and solutions that will increase rates of ethnic data collection in primary care were discussed and the group identified ways in which the Race for Health Programme can support NHS staff to increase ethnic data collection in primary care.
