Summary literature review
The Picker Institute is undertaking this work in their role as the coordination centre for the acute patients’ survey programme in response to concerns about the accessibility of the postal questionnaire methodology for some population groups.
The work is being conducted in four stages. The first stage, a literature review is now complete and is available here. In the next stage, NHS staff, patients, carers and their representative groups will be involved in a consultation about the implications of the findings of the review. Additionally, views about the current survey methodology and ways in which this could better meet the needs of the local population will be sought. The final stage of the work will involve testing any new initiatives identified in the consultation phase with local people.
