Diabetes DVD targeting African and Caribbean Communities

New from Diabetes UK

Diabetes UK has recently launched a new DVD targeted specifically for Black African Caribbean community; to improve the knowledge, understanding and management of diabetes within this community and promote an improved quality of life.

Over 2 million people in the UK have diabetes. If you are not a person with diabetes yourself, you probably know someone who is. Diabetes is 4-5 times more common in the African Caribbean community than the general population.

The aim of the DVD is to offer advice about:

  • Insight into the different types of Diabetes
  • Signs and symptoms of Diabetes
  • Management of diabetes, including diet and exercise
  • Insight into attending an annual review
  • The risks of smoking and drinking alcohol with Diabetes
  • Living with Diabetes
