Race for Health, a Department of Health programme that develops best practice on race equality in the NHS, today welcomes the Healthcare Commission Report, ‘Tackling The Challenge – Promoting Race Equality in the NHS in England’
Professor Helen Hally, National Director of Race for Health, said:
‘It is unacceptable that some trusts are still not meeting minimum requirements for tackling race inequality. This is not a bureaucratic exercise – it has real impact in terms of saving lives and improving health for large numbers of people who, for reasons of ethnicity, are disadvantaged in the NHS. The core principles of equal access for all that drive the NHS demand that the improvements called for by the Healthcare Commission are made immediately.’
