Bradford and Airedale PCT ... Bachon-kei alfaz (Children's Words) vocabulary packs
Summary:
This collaborative project involved partners from health and education devising vocabulary packs for children to support early language development in a child's home language. The packs are made up of two colourful booklets for children containing photographs of every day words. A CD/cassette of information for parents is included (Urdu/English).
Action:
The vocabulary packs are being used to support children's language learning in a variety of settings including children attending speech and language therapy and to children in local nurseries and schools.
Outcome:
The packs are being provided to families accompanied by parent workshops where information is provided on how to help children learn to talk.
