Department of Health: The NHS Improvement Plan
The NHS Improvement Plan sets out the priorities for the NHS between now and 2008. It supports the ongoing commitment to a 10-year process of reform first set out in The NHS Plan. As part of the planning process, particularly with regard to local targets, Primary Care Trusts and their partner organisations should demonstrate that they have taken account of different needs and inequalities within the local population, with respect of area, socio-economic group, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, faith, and sexual orientation. These bodies are asked to carry out health equity audits and equality impact assessments, which include issues of race equality.
