London Health Commission
The London Health Commission works in partnership with agencies across the capital to reduce health inequalities and improve the health and well being of all Londoners. The LHC recognises that this requires co-ordinated action to improve the determinants of health across London. It promotes this action by:
- influencing key policy makers and practitioners;
- supporting local action;
- driving on specific priority issues through joint programmes of work.
The Black and Minority Ethnic Advisory Forum (BMEAF) of the London Health Commission has been re-formed to foster mutually productive working and overlap, including cross-representation with other LHC advisory groups. The work will include providing input to and make recommendations about the LHC's priorities as they relate to equality and diversity issues. A key area of its work will also be to ensure the work of the LHC is linked to other relevant bodies, individuals and organisations. As part of this remit, a prime area of focus will be to develop a London-wide Standing Conference on Race and Health.
